Back in the summer 2020 as world was adapting to life in the pandemic, staying locked up at home, Leah Edwards and Dimitri Pittas were bringing live opera to people around the Lowcountry. Through their Social Distance-Sing program mobile concerts rolled up to outdoor venues all over the Charleston Region. The mobile opera concerts were just one exciting part of a major larger initiative called Holy City Arts & Lyric Opera (HALO).
Colophon designed and launched the website in July 2020 and completed a design upgrade in August 2021 as HALO prepared for their inaugural season with performances of La Traviata and Into the Woods planned for the 2021-2022 season.
A special thanks to Patrick Brickman whose extraordinary graphic design talent made the new website and poster art come alive. Patrick also designed the logo which features the friendly and distinguished mascot Hal! (seen below).
It is exciting to have an initiative like this in Charleston which is the birthplace of opera in North America. We encourage the public to get vaccinated so that live events like La Traviata, which is planned for October, can happen safely.
