Case Study 1: The Charleston City Marina
CLIENT: Charleston City Marina

The re-development of the Charleston City Marina Website, followed a similar project that Colophon New Media completed in 2006 for the Charleston City Boatyard. Both companies are owned and operated by the Beach Company. The Marketing department at the City Marina, headed by Mr. K.C. Rennie wanted to create an updated look and streamlined design that would share design elements with the City Boatyard website. They needed to create continuity between the two complimentary businesses while maintaining individual branding.

The solution was to draw from design elements in the City Boatyard site and at the same time create a unique and thoroughly helpful new Marina website. Among the new features in the Marina site are a complete presentation of all the marina amenities, a contact form for reserving dock space and and extensive list of local restaurants and preferred vendors that is kept up-to-date by Marina staff.

Website content is updated by the Charleston City Marina using a tool called Site_Manager 2.0. This custom-installed web content manager allows staff to make fast and easy updates directly from their web browser from any computer in the world. The system is secure and runs on all platforms.
