This long-time client once again turned to Colophon to refresh its web presence. For this third-generation build, along with an updated look and feel, Colophon delivered several upgrades to optimize the Club’s crucial Membership functions. These include a highly secure, password protected member access portal, and advanced internal documentation and event management functions.

The Backstory – Colophon Started Working for GCV in 2008…

In 2008 the Garden Club of Virginia came to Colophon with the complex task of organizing the data in their sprawling website, and presenting it in a clear and easily managed site. The legacy website for GCVIRGINIA.ORG had grown through an internal system of adding static pages to the site over many years. The organization also had some content stored in databases and other data in documents.

Colophon collected, organized and re-developed all of these assets into a fresh, clean, new website that serves both the public as well as the members of the Garden Club of Virginia. Powered by state-of-the-art ColdFusion servers the site offers an extensive look at the club's myriad activities and events.

The 2008 website developed by Colophon was a highly successful upgrade for the organization – serving its members while also undergoing upgrades and new feature additions that are handled by Colophon as regular maintenance work.

As a leading garden club in America, the GCV needed to present a professional, accessible website to the public while offering members a secure area to view internal information. The website accomplishes this using a separate Members Login that offers detailed membership information. The system is completely searchable and allows members to drill into exactly the information they need in a quick and easy interface.

The design and development team at Colophon worked directly with the project manager from the Garden Club of Virginia to insure that every detail was in place, and that all requirements for both the public facing website as well as the members was implemented correctly.

The 2012 second generation website has been enhanced with all mobile-compliant, optimized code, a streamlined navigational system and attractive new design.

The final results have been a spectacular success for the Garden Club of Virginia. The website's custom-installed content management system (CMS) allows the Club admin to control all of the core content of the site and allows the site to grow in an organized way.
