 The Company

Based in Santa Rosa, CA, Sonoma County Properties offers representation to both buyers and sellers in the Sonoma County real estate market.

 The Challenge

While Sonoma County Properties has enjoyed great success over the years, their web presence was falling behind their brand image. When their leadership approached Colophon it was clear that radical changes needed to be made. A complete web redesign project was undertaken.

 The Process

Working with our partner Gary Marsh from Marsh Marketing, Colophon planned a new approach to all facets of the Sonoma County Properties website. Marsh worked on messaging and copy while Colophon focused on design and programming.

 The Solution

While working on a new brand image and fresh, stunning design, our backend programming team went to work on what is the core of all good real estate websites – the listings engine.

The legacy website ran a framed solution to display properties on the website. The technology did not work well. It was slow, rendered poorly on mobile devices, and did not include good, sensible filters to help users find homes quickly.

Colophon worked with Ron Welsh, the broker-in-charge at Sonoma County Properties to gain access to their local MLS API. We then built a custom search and display system for all listings. The system syncs to the local MLS on an automated, regular schedule keeping all listings data up-to-date on the website.

The website is hosted on secure, fast, WordPress optimized servers.
